Steinberg Wavelab Announced for Mac OSX

Wavelab 7 Collage
Steinberg has announced that the new Wavelab 7 will be available on Mac OSX. And to say the least, I am pretty excited about this! I have been using i3′s DSP Quattro for mastering and sequencing and as much as I like it, Wavelab seems to be the superior product.

Wavelab 7 should start shipping in the second half of 2010.

IK Multimedia T-RackS 3 Metering Suite

T-RackS 3 Metering Suite Plugin

I picked up AudioMidi.com’s No Brainer deal that included the T-RackS 3 Classic EQ and Metering Suite plugins. I hadn’t used any of IK’s plugins before, but had heard enough good things that I figured it would be worth the $20 they were asking! I haven’t had a chance to use the EQ, but the metering suite is great! It includes Peak and Perceived Loudness meters, Phase and Correlation meters plus a full Spectrum meter as well. It would be worth the $99 that IK asks for it, but for $20 with a bundled EQ, it’s simply a must have!

Pick it up before the deal is over.

Nomad Factory All-Tech (Altec) EQ Model

Nomad Factory All-Tech EQ Plugin
I just picked up the new Nomad Factory All-Tech 9063B EQ from dontcrack.com for $59! This plugin is an emulation of the classic Altec 9063B. Although this EQ is limited to a simple Low/High format with selected frequencies it sounds very nice. I love colorful sounding EQs and already have enough multi-band and linear phase EQs to choose from! The sale is going on until May 31st and I suggest everyone check this one out since Nomad Factory has been dropping some great sounding plugins lately!

Editing Multi-Track Drums With Elastic Audio (Pro Tools 7.4)

I have been editing and pocketing drums by hand for a long time. But, I’ve recently been using Pro Tools Elastic Time to try and speed up the process. So, here is Part 1 of a three part video from Digidesign on how to edit multitrack drums using Elastic Time in Pro Tools 7.4. Enjoy!

First and Foremost CD is Coming Soon!

The First and Foremost CD will be mastered this week! I can’t wait to drop this EP and let everyone hear it. I am very proud of the work we did on this record together, it sounds great and the songs are killer. We had a meeting today to discuss CD packaging and I believe we are going to go with a recycled CD sleeve.

In this day and age where all music is ripped to a computer and played from an iPod it doesn’t make sense to spend thousands on jewel cases and 4-color printing. Also, we’d like to be as good to the earth as possible, so with the CD being the only non-recycled item we’re doing what we can. Also, First and Foremost will have new merch very soon! Check out their myspace and facebook pages to find out about their next gig, you won’t regret it.

In the Studio with Surphace

I was in the studio with Charlie from Surphace cutting vocals for their upcoming EP. They will be shooting a music video next Saturday with Justin Cary for the first single “Those Hands.” I can’t wait for this record to come out, it’s a big stylistic leap for the band and I’m loving what they’re doing!
