Okay, so some of you know that I have been working for a new school in town. Mindfire Academy will be teaching Recording Arts, Digital Filmmaking and 3D Animation/Game Design. We are getting started with the 3D Animation/Game Design courses very soon and I just wanted to share this video with everyone. Check it out!

First and Foremost recorded a live acoustic EP in a library this month. It will be out on iTunes very soon. I’ll keep you updated!

We’re finishing the new Surphace record this week! “I Dream, I Can’t” will be out this fall… also, I’m in the studio now with Our Stars the Sun. Their debut EP will be out this fall as well. I’ll have some new songs for everyone to listen to soon.

Okay, so June went way too fast. I’ve been busy working on and finishing up several projects and have filled in what little free time I had with other work! So, what have I been up to? Well, I was the location sound mixer for the short film “High Value” directed by Chuck Cranston for Telemark Pictures. We spent four days in the Flint Hills of Kansas on location and I’ve never had more fun doing location sound.

I also took some time to do some location sound work for a new Ashley Furniture commercial. Although less glamorous, it was still a great time!

Black Lion Audio is well known for their modifications to affordable pro-sumer gear like the Digi002/003 and MOTU units (as well as mods for Digi’s higher end 96 i/o and HD 192 interfaces). They have been steadily expanding their product line to include high-end items at an affordable price such as their MicroClock, Autuer Preamp and Sparrow AD converter, but I believe they may have outdone themselves this time.

Black Lion introduced the AM/CHA1 EQ and it looks like a killer piece of gear. A stereo inductor based EQ with custom wound CineMag transformers for $1,195.00?! It almost sounds too good to be true, but with their track record, I can believe it. I can’t wait to test one out, it might be my first purchase my new mastering studio.

Jack Joseph Puig talks about his Fairchild and Pultec Waves Plugins. I use his Pultec plugs a lot at the Brickhouse Studios both on individual tracks and on my stereo buss. They are wonderful sounding plugins, but if the price is too high, there are several companies making budget versions that sound very nice (ie Nomad Factory Pulse-Tec EQs).

Jack Korbel’s debut album “So Much Depends on the Weather,” will be out soon on iTunes worldwide! This record is full of wonderful folk songs written by Jack and performed by a crew of studio musicians. The album sounds wonderful and I am proud to have mixed and mastered this record for my friend Jack.
